Car rental options in Amadora for long-term stay?

#1384 Quote
So I'm relocating to Portugal in a couple of months, company's expanding and I'll be running the Lisbon office for at least a year. Could be longer depending on how things go. I'm settling in Amadora rather than dealing with the madness in Lisbon proper, the pace there looked insane when I visited last month. Buying a car straight away feels premature when I don't even know the area yet, figured I'd rent for the first stretch. What's available in Amadora for something longer than a weekend?

Moving for work always comes with that weird phase where you're trying to set up your life from scratch and nothing feels permanent yet. Amadora's a smart pick if you want to avoid the tourist crowds and rent prices in the city center, plus you're still close enough to commute. Monthly rentals usually work out cheaper than buying right away when you don't know how long you'll stay or what roads you'll be driving most. Check if any local agencies offer deals for extended periods, some will knock the price down if you commit to three or six months.

Living in the suburbs means you'll need wheels sooner than later, commuting into Lisbon every day gets old fast when you're relying on schedules. Long-term rentals beat the daily rate by a mile and you're not locked into a purchase until you know the area better. You can check what cars are available to rent in Amadora here: https://getrentacar.com/en-US/portugal/amadora . Look for monthly arrangements that fit your timeline, some owners prefer longer contracts and drop the price accordingly. Once you've driven around for a few months you'll know what kind of car actually makes sense for Portuguese roads instead of guessing from a dealership lot.
